
Mogadishu- Somalia – Somalia will officially launch its third-generation polycarbonate passport in October 2026, introducing enhanced security features and full compliance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The announcement was made by Hussein Qasim Yusuf, Director General of the Immigration and Citizenship Agency (ICA), who said the new passport has been designed to strengthen document security, improve durability, and enhance international recognition for Somali passport holders.
According to the Director General, the upgraded passport reflects Somalia’s continued efforts to modernize its travel documents in line with international best practices, providing citizens with a more secure and globally recognized travel credential.
