Uganda has confirmed three new cases of Ebola, bringing the country’s total number of infections to five.
Health officials say the newly confirmed cases include a driver who transported the first patient, a healthcare worker, and a woman from the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo.
In response to growing concerns over cross-border transmission, Uganda has suspended public transport services to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Authorities fear the virus could spread rapidly through busy border towns and crowded transport routes frequently used by traders and travelers.
Health teams are continuing contact tracing, isolation measures, and monitoring efforts to contain the outbreak. Officials are also urging the public to remain vigilant and report symptoms early to help prevent further spread.
The latest developments have heightened concerns across the region, particularly due to the close movement of people between Uganda and the DRC, where Ebola outbreaks have occurred in the past.
