Baidoa – Somalia The newly elected leader of Somalia’s Southwest State, Aden Mohamed Nur, was inaugurated on Monday in the regional administrative capital, Baidoa.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by a federal government delegation led by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, and the Acting Speaker of the Federal Parliament.
Aden Madobe, who stepped down as Speaker of the House of the People, became the first directly elected leader of Southwest State following the region’s historic one-person, one-vote election.
In his inaugural address, the new leader pledged to prioritize security, development, and reconciliation during his administration.
The ceremony was also attended by the leaders of Hirshabelle, Galmudug, Puntland, and the Banadir Regional Administration.
