Addis Ababa – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is on an official working visit to Ethiopia, held talks on Monday with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed aimed at deepening cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
According to a statement by Villa Somalia , the meeting focused on strengthening the long-standing relations between Somalia and Ethiopia and expanding collaboration in key sectors including security, economic development and regional cooperation.
The two leaders also discussed ways to enhance joint efforts to address strategic issues and promote stability across the Horn of Africa.
During the meeting, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud congratulated Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on his party’s victory in Ethiopia’s recent elections and expressed his best wishes for continued progress, national development and stability in the country.
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of sustained dialogue and close partnership to advance shared interests and support peace, security and economic growth in the region.
The meeting forms part of Somalia’s ongoing diplomatic engagement to strengthen ties with neighboring countries and reinforce regional cooperation initiatives.
