Somali President Meets Kenyan Opposition Leader for Talks

Nairobi – Kenya – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is on an official visit to Kenya, held a meeting on Monday with Kenyan opposition leader and brother of the late Raila Odinga, Oburu Odinga.

According to Oketch Salah, who describes himself as Raila Odinga’s adopted son, the discussions focused on a shared commitment to peace, stability and regional cooperation.

The two sides reaffirmed their support for Somalia’s democratic transition, including the implementation of the One Person, One Vote electoral process, and expressed support for the Somali people in their pursuit of peace, unity and prosperity.

They also reiterated that Kenya must not be used as a safe haven by individuals or groups seeking to destabilize Somalia.
