Kenya and the United States have officially launched a new chapter in their health partnership after signing a five-year Strategic Objective Grant Agreement (SOAG), establishing the Kenya\u2013U.S. Health Cooperation Framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agreement provides a structured roadmap for collaboration, aligning U.S. investments with Kenya\u2019s national health priorities while outlining clear objectives, funding commitments, and accountability measures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking during the signing ceremony, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale described the agreement as the result of months of technical consultations focused on strengthening local health systems, building resilient medical supply chains, and enhancing institutional capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the framework, the United States will invest approximately USD 1.6 billion (about KSh206 billion) over the next five years. The funding will support key health priorities, including reforms at the Kenya Medical Supplies Authority (KEMSA), the fight against malaria, HIV and tuberculosis, digital health transformation, health systems strengthening, and expanded access to quality healthcare services across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CS Duale reaffirmed the Ministry of Health\u2019s commitment to a government-to-government cooperation model founded on national ownership, transparency, accountability, and prudent use of public resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis partnership demonstrates the enduring ties between Kenya and the United States and advances our shared goal of achieving Universal Health Coverage through the Taifa Care model while building a resilient and sustainable health system for all Kenyans,\u201d Duale said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The signing was witnessed by Principal Secretaries Dr. Ouma Oluga (Medical Services) and Mary Muthoni (Public Health and Professional Standards), alongside Social Health Authority CEO Dr. Mercy Mwangangi, Digital Health Agency CEO Eng.
