The move marks a significant escalation in international pressure over alleged repression and mistreatment of activists in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The allegations stem from incidents involving the detention and reported torture of the two activists while in Tanzania. Human rights organizations and civil society groups across East Africa have condemned the reported abuses, calling for accountability, transparency, and protection for activists and journalists operating within the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Boniface Mwangi is widely known for his outspoken criticism of corruption, abuse of power, and human rights violations in Kenya and across East Africa.
